Arya Singh, a NEET-UG 2026 candidate, and her father, Rakesh Singh, a former soldier, have embarked on a journey to Delhi to protest outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office. Their demonstration comes in the wake of the NTA’s dismissal of claims arguing that Arya’s examination results were tampered with. This protest is part of a larger contention involving multiple candidates who have alleged discrepancies between their results and their OMR answer sheets. The NTA has countered these claims, asserting that the images shared on social media are either fabricated, digitally altered, or generated by artificial intelligence, and do not align with their official records.
Hailing from Kanpur, Arya Singh asserts that after the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination results were announced, her score was inexplicably altered from an initial 570 to 167 marks. She reported receiving an OMR sheet from the NTA that she claims was flawed, citing a missing question and duplicate serial numbers as errors. Upon challenging these discrepancies, Arya stated that the NTA subsequently provided another OMR sheet, which displayed a score of 609 marks, further complicating the situation.
Rakesh Singh expressed his family’s dissatisfaction with the explanations provided by the NTA and vowed to continue their protest until they receive convincing responses. He has also made a public appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to take action against what he perceives as irregularities in the examination process. Despite these allegations, the NTA has firmly denied any wrongdoing, maintaining that all original OMR sheets are consistent with the declared scores and that their official documents are safeguarded with secure identifiers such as barcodes and QR codes.
This controversy traces back to the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination held on June 21, which was necessary after the initial examination in May was canceled due to allegations of a paper leak. The incident is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is continuing its probe into the matter. As the protest unfolds, the Singh family’s determination highlights ongoing concerns over examination integrity and transparency in the process.
