Waqar’s decision to join Congress marks a significant realignment in the political landscape, especially given his former proximity to AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi. Criticizing his previous party, Waqar accused AIMIM of undermining the opposition’s fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by targeting the Congress, Samajwadi Party, and other opposition groups instead. He emphasized the necessity for opposition unity to effectively challenge the BJP, positioning Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi as the main contenders capable of mounting a national challenge to the ruling party.
