India to Open 2027 ODI World Cup Against Australia in Cape Town

India is set to kick off its 2027 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup campaign with a highly anticipated match against defending champions Australia. This opening fixture is scheduled for October 7 in Cape Town, according to the tournament’s official schedule.

Following the clash with Australia, India will face a fierce rival in a much-awaited group stage match against Pakistan on October 10 at Johannesburg’s iconic Wanderers Stadium. This contest is expected to be one of the highlights of the tournament’s initial phase, drawing significant attention from fans and analysts alike.

India has been placed in Group A, which includes formidable opponents such as Australia and Pakistan, alongside Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and a team designated as Qualifier A. The 14-team tournament is a collaborative hosting effort, taking place across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

Continuing their group stage matches, India will compete against Afghanistan on October 14 in Tshwane, followed by a game against Qualifier A on October 17 in Bloemfontein. Their final group match is scheduled for October 24, where they will face Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls.
