India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, is on an official visit to Qatar from October 5 to 7, 2025, to co-chair the India-Qatar Joint Commission on Economic and Commercial Cooperation with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani.
The meeting aims to strengthen trade and investment ties between the two nations, following the decision made during the February 2025 visit of Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to India. Discussions will focus on expanding collaboration in energy, technology, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors.
Goyal will also meet senior Qatari leaders, key business representatives, and members of the Indian community in Doha. A large Indian business delegation, including members of FICCI, CII, and ASSOCHAM, is accompanying him to participate in the India-Qatar Joint Business Council—designed to foster direct business-to-business partnerships.
Bilateral trade between India and Qatar reached around $14.2 billion in 2024–25, with India emerging as one of Qatar’s top trading partners and a key market for Qatari energy exports. The visit is expected to further elevate the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two countries.
