In the past 24 hours, Chhattisgarh has experienced intense rainfall, resulting in flood-like conditions in several areas, notably affecting Raipur and Durg districts. The Kharun River’s rising levels have caused significant waterlogging, disrupting daily life and submerging roads and villages.
Raipur and Durg have seen some of their roads and riverside communities submerged under water. The connection between Raipur, Patan, and Durg via Mahadev Ghat has been severely affected, impeding traffic flow. The Raipur-Bhilai route, which also passes through Mahadev Ghat, is facing similar issues, with waterlogging posing challenges to commuters.
In Durg district, the villages of Amleshwar and Khudmuda are among the most impacted, with strong water currents making it difficult for residents to move around. Roads in these areas are underwater, complicating efforts to maintain normalcy.
Weather forecasts indicate that further rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in the region. This raises concerns about continued water accumulation, particularly in low-lying and riverside areas, exacerbating the existing challenges faced by the local population.
