India-US Dismiss Stalemate Claims in Trade Negotiations, Emphasize Economic Progress.

Reports suggesting that India has turned down a fast-track trade deal with the United States have been strongly refuted by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. Both officials labeled such claims as “false” and “misleading,” emphasizing the positive nature of ongoing trade discussions between the two nations.

Minister Goyal indicated that his recent conversations with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer were fruitful, reiterating the dedication of both India and the US to formulating a trade agreement that is both balanced and mutually advantageous. Supporting this sentiment, Ambassador Gor characterized the bilateral talks as constructive, noting that both parties remain actively engaged in the process.

Further affirming the progress, Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal highlighted that negotiations are proceeding smoothly. He noted that a framework for the trade agreement is in place, with both countries merely awaiting the right moment to finalize and sign the deal. This statement suggests that the groundwork has been laid for a potential agreement, indicating a positive trajectory in the trade discussions.

Officials from the United States have also expressed a hopeful outlook, suggesting that an interim trade agreement could be reached in the near future. This continued cooperation underscores the strong trade relationship between New Delhi and Washington and hints at the potential for an agreement that could bolster economic ties between the two countries.
